Always Becoming, Never Being

We live in a culture where we are constantly reaching for the next thing, attaining the next goal, preparing for the next day, planning for the future; never really sitting still long enough to smell the roses, or be curious about the light that hits our faces at sunrise, or appreciate each breath we take.  In other words, we are always “becoming” and never “being.”

So, our obsession with always becoming, does it hinder us? Are we missing out on life because we are never being? What do you think? How do you live – being or becoming?

  1. This is a difficult question because there are so many expectations! Even after a long day of work, I sometimes feel guilty just sitting down to watch TV. It’s like we put ourselves in this race with no finish line, no celebration, no time to just soak it in!
